Stay Alive

Here's a great idea script. I do not have a working copy posted because of the nature of the script. So, I'll let the author tell you about it and give you the Zip file he gave me.

Hello Joe!

Well I've visited your page off and on for about the last year. Grabbing all types of goodies on HTML and JavaScript. I think I can repay the favour.

This is a JavaScript with a timer (Your example, thank you) that posts to an address every X amount of minutes.

The URL is entered in a text box, the timer is set between 1 and 20 minutes, and the switch is flicked 'On' via a button.

I coded this using Netscape communicator 4.02, so I hope the Java is backwardly compatible. Although a friend said he had a problem with it,

I use it all the time without any bugs (so far).

Attatched is a zipfie KEEPLIVE.ZIP. Inside is KEEPLOAD.HTM and KEEPALV6.HTM. You run keepload.htm so KeepAlive is loaded in it's own small window (another example of yours, thanx again).

When the timer hits, a second window is opened for the output from the URL. The second window is quite small, but is resizable. It is not intended for surfing, just output. When the timer hits again, the second window is refreshed, etc, etc.

The whole purpose is because my ISP times me out when I'm downloading, and there is no "Two way communication" as THEY put it. :)
